A’ Design Award & Competition:

We are delighted to receive the 2022 Iron A’ Design Award for Citystars Heliopolis Retail. The award celebrates excellence in Architecture, Building and Structure Design by the International Design Academy. Concept i collaborated closely with the client team and all stakeholders to achieve vibrant, innovative solutions relevant to the changing needs and trends shaping contemporary public space design.

APR International Interior Design Awards:

A huge “congrats” to Seacon’s Munx2 Experimental Retail Space for winning a “Gold” International Interior Design Award, 2021. The Architecture Press Release Awards (APR) received many huge projects this year and jury members were “overwhelmed to see such a wide range of projects featuring design innovations and intelligence from across the world”. With it’s ever changing fusion of innovative retail, arts and performance space, co-working labs, foodie trends, creative zones, skate galleries and more, the 27,000 sq.m Munx2 has truly ruffled the feathers of traditional retailing.

A Cool Co-Lab is Born!

Setsatian School for the Deaf, Bangkok

 

Setsatian School is Thailand’s first school for the hearing-impaired and has been operating since 1953. Over the past few months Concept i has been working closely with the School to transform the existing computer room into a brand new Creative Co-lab.

“New computer technologies are global and visual and can give the children a barrier free dialogue with society” says Geoff Morrison, CEO of Concept i.  “Our goal is to bridge the employment gap for these kids by helping to empower them with digital skills relevant to our changing world.”

Co-Lab means “collaboration” explains Kittisak J. Interior Designer. “We designed a bright and vibrant space where students can inter-mingle and explore digital skills in a fun way”. Interior graphics and soft furnishings use the Pantone Institute’s color’s of the year – neutral ultimate gray and vibrant yellow Illuminating.

“The color symbolism is powerful” says Pei-han, Graphic Designer, “they highlight our human need to be seen, recognized and heard. This color combination connects to insight, innovation, intuition, and intelligence, motivating us to think, learn, create and problem solve in new ways.”

The space planning is angularized to give a creative look and feel, focusing on the class leader’s demonstration space and projection wall. “Global quotes and pictograms urge you to dream, explore, and create” says Nunthiya C., Architect. There are comfortable spaces to learn, relax, and exchange ideas.

“We look forward to working with the children”, Nunthiya explains. “Together with the teachers of Setsatian we hope to organize workshops where people with and without hearing impairment can interact, have fun, and develop skills together. The workshops will explore graphic and 3D sketching software.

Concept i are delighted to receive the prestigious 2021 RLI Designer Award at the 16th UK, Retail and Leisure International’s Awards. The gala dinner/ceremony was held at the Londoner Hotel, London on Sept. 23rd. In her opening speech, RLI Publisher Jayne Rafter said:

 

“Retail will reinvent itself once again and in time we will look back on Covid‐19 as a catalyst for some of the biggest changes the world will see. Tonight we honour the most visionary and innovative retail and leisure concepts from across the globe. Concept i is shortlisted for two SBID International Design Awards 2021

The SBID International Design Awards finalists for 2021 have been revealed, boasting an impressive shortlist of award-worthy entries across Interior Design, Product Design and Fit-Out. Concept i is pleased to announce that it is among the impressive global design talent to have become a finalist in this year’s SBID International Design Awards for its entries, Hong Kong Jockey Club – Happy Valley Clubhouse Extension in the Restuarnt Design category and Mun x2 in the Retail Design category.

In 2015 Hong Kong Jockey Club commenced construction on a new extension to its Happy Valley Clubhouse referred to as “The Hilltop in the Valley”. As part of an international collection of designers assigned to the project (one for each level) Concept i was appointed as the Interior Designers for level 7 of the complex. Level 7 was conceived as a luxury “4 Generation” family dining and entertainment destination. The project requested two-family restaurants offering Provincial Chinese Cuisine and Authentic American Cuisine and a state of the art Children’s Play Zone in a 2,650 sq.m space. The Children’s Play Zone was required to be fun and exciting and offer meaningful Play and Learn activities for an age range of 4 to 12-year-olds.

Seacon Square, Bangkok’s 500,000 sq m mega-mall, unleashed 27,000 sq m of new, experiential retailing. It’s young, it’s fun, it’s totally Mun! Named after the Thai slang for something somewhat crazy, “Mun Mun” features cutting edge, individualistic retailing immersed in eye-popping arts and street culture. Concept i was commissioned to conceive the new project and worked closely with Seacon to completely re-invent the space, design, food, retail and attraction program.

Considered one of the most prestigious accolades in the interior design industry, success in the GOLD-standard Awards programme demonstrates the highest level of design excellence across the commercial and residential sectors. From the design scheme, materials used and products specified through to the final fit-out installation, the SBID Awards champion design standards across the supply chain in the design, procurement and execution of outstanding interiors.

Each finalist has been evaluated by industry-leading experts for functionality, technical merit, creative delivery, and ability to inspire; highlighting the value that expert interior design and specialist craftmanship can bring to businesses, homes, and society as a whole.
